Proper Attire for the Formal Season
Members without colors, junior members and Guests:
White stock tie, canary or tan waistcoat, tan or yellow breeches, black boots, black or oxford gray riding coat with plain black buttons and a safety helmet with a harness.
Members with Hunt Colors:
Gentlemen who have been awarded the hunt button have the right, if they wish, to appear at formal hunt meets wearing the hunt livery which consists of a dark blue frock coat with buff collar and brass GVH buttons, buff waistcoat with brass GVH buttons, a safety helmet with harness, buff or white-colored breeches, and black boots with tops.
Ladies who have been awarded the hunt button have the right, if they wish, to wear the collar on a dark gray or black hunt coat and the black buttons with the white GVH imprint, buff waist coat with brass buttons, a safety helmet with harness, buff or white breeches and black boots. Ladies also have the right to appear at formal hunt meets wearing the hunt livery which consists of a dark blue frock coat with buff collar and brass GVH buttons, buff waistcoat with brass buttons and buff or white breeches and black boots.
*Please note*
· Members of the field should wear the 3-button rounded corner frock coat. 4-button frock coats are appropriate for staff only.
· Helmets are strongly recommended for safety. However, members with colors may wear alternate headwear as follows: a top hat for men, and a bowler for women. Staff only may wear the traditional hunt cap. This is sometimes done for the Opening Meet parade down Main Street, Geneseo.
